OECD Technical Workshop (II): Identifying an Appropriate Set of Metrics and Indicators for Measuring Broadband and the Internet Economy (hosted by Ofcom, London, UK. June 14-15 2012)

This workshop, hosted by UK Ofcom, will be held in London on 14-15 June 2012. This is a follow-up to the first OECD Metrics Workshop held in Washington D.C (hosted by the US Federal Communications Commission), in which ITAC participated.

The goal of the second workshop is to make substantial progress in the development of new OECD broadband metrics criteria, building on discussions held previously.

The objectives of the workshop include reaching agreement on:

  • a new definition of broadband;
  • a subset of meaningful cross-sectional and time series data that can be implemented quickly and which describes the deployment of broadband services and who adopts them and what services are adopted;
  • comparable cross sectional and time series data both qualitative and quantitative that identifies the drivers of Internet usage and impacts on innovation, productivity and entrepreneurship within and across countries.
