ITAC at the 2012 IGF in Baku

The Internet Technical Advisory Committee (ITAC) will participate in the upcoming Internet Governance Forum, to be held on 4-9 November in Baku, Azerbaijan.

ITAC, represented by Ms. Anne-Rachel Inne, Chief Operations Officer at AfriNIC, will participate in an OECD workshop on “Inclusive innovation for development: The contribution of the Internet and related ICTs” (No.142). This workshop, which is co-organized by ITAC, BIAC and CSISAC, will foster discussion on the opportunities that the Internet economy offers for inclusive development by increasing access, developing skills and promoting applications and their use.

Several ITAC member organizations will be heavily involved at the IGF by organizing or participating in workshops and main sessions.

2012 ITAC Meeting

On 23 October 2012, the Internet Technical Advisory Committee to the OECD (ITAC) convened for its second annual meeting in Paris, on the margins of the OECD 64th ICCP Session.

ITAC brings together the counsel and expertise of technically focused organizations in a decentralized and networked approach to policy formulation for the Internet economy. The group  was officially recognized in 2009 by the OECD Council, following the 2008 Seoul Ministerial on the Future of the Internet Economy.

Participants discussed past, current and future contributions from the Internet technical community to the work of the OECD Committee for Information, Computer and Communications Policy (ICCP) and its working parties. Since 2009, ITAC membership has grown to count 25 active organizations situated in various areas of the Internet community, providing expertise in fields such as privacy, identity or IP interconnection.

ITAC's participation in the the 2012 Foresight Forum

The 2012 OECD Foresight Forum on “Harnessing Data as a New Source of Growth: Big data Analytics and Policies” was held on 22 October 2012 in Paris. This edition fostered discussions on the social and economic issues related to big data analytics. Horizontal issues included privacy, intellectual property and competition, addressed in domains such as science and research, government administration, labour markets or health care.

Several ITAC members were involved in sessions of the Forum:
